Wow it’s November already and the year is flying by so fast! I’ve fallen behind on my blog posts…. but I’m making a come back…

Things have been so busy… I’m back at the day job, working with and helping new and returning students in Applied Arts, Fashion & Textiles, Fine Art and Illustration (to name a few disciplines!) at The School of Art, The University of Wolverhampton…..

Things have been hotting up ‘at the bench…’ but I’m finally having a breather this weekend.. and doing a bit of catching up!

So, this month sees ‘Intrinsic’, A Textile Jewellery Exhibition curated by Mandy Nash now on show at Cursley & Bond in Folkestone.  This exhibition showcases the work of these fabulous makers! Which also includes some of my work from a collection entitled ‘Seasons.’

Pieces on show use highly intricate decoration made up of an eclectic mix of floral, geometric patterns and linear marks flowing across silk screen printed silks. The patterns change as Seasons change. Long lengths of silk flow as the imagery repeats all over. A scarf format is the perfect yet wearable canvas to display shifts and movement within the overall pattern. Fragments of these patterns are also translated onto delicate embossed Fine Silver frames to compliment scarves and framed silk pieces consisting of earrings, pendants, scarves and scarf jewel sliders. Fine Silver is finished with matt, satin and textured surfaces whilst the edges are burnished with subtle shine. The hard yet delicate silver components contrast against the softness and lustre of the silk.

Here are some images of the work on show; Seasons, ‘Blue Summer’ and Berry Autumn….’ What do you think… ? watch this space as ‘White Winter’ is on it’s way!
